Born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Northwest Florida, Bro. Ken came to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ at the tender age of 5.  He felt God’s call to the ministry early in life, surrendering to preach as a teenager while attending Solid Rock Baptist Church in Milton, Florida.

At Solid Rock Baptist Church, Bro. Ken served as Associate Pastor, Youth Minister, and Music Minister under his pastor and dad, Dr. John Stead, Sr.  In 1994, Bro. Ken received his preaching license.

Feeling a burden for young people, Bro. Ken and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1999 to serve as Youth Minister at Schoolfield Baptist Church.  He was ordained into the ministry shortly after, in the spring of 2000.  In May of  2005, while still working with the youth at Schoolfield Baptist, Bro. Ken was called to become pastor at Oaklawn Baptist Church, a small church right outside the city of Memphis.

Bro. Ken obtained his degree from Slidell Baptist Seminary and continues his education through their out of state program.

He and his wife, Nanette, live in the Shelby Forest area.  They have two children, Shawn, 19 and Dakota, 10 and a beagle named Pearl.

Today Bro. Ken’s vision for Oaklawn Baptist Church and the congregation is to always seek God’s will and presence in their daily lives as well as to draw the community and its people to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.   Bro. Ken’s prayer is that the church will continue to grow, in number and spiritual awareness, for God’s honor and glory.
